Watch Candidates' Forum of Citywide Races back to Recent News archive
August 11, 2009

The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce and its Government Affairs Committee held a Candidates' Forum on August 3, at St. Francis College's Founders Hall.  The free forum, attended by over 100 concerned citizens, local elected officials and members of the news media, was moderated by NY1's Michael Scotto, a leading local political reporter.  Brooklyn Daily Eagle and El Diario La Prensa sponsored the event.

Two discussion panels featured candidates with contested races for the citywide offices of NYC Comptroller – Melinda Katz, Councilmember (D-Queens), John C. Liu, Councilmember (D-Queens), David Weprin, Councilmember (D-Queens), and David Yassky, Councilmember (D-Brooklyn), and Public Advocate – Bill de Blasio, Councilmember (D-Brooklyn), Eric Gioia, Councilmember (D-Queens), and Norman Siegel, Esq. (Candidate Mark Green, who was the first person elected to the office of Public Advocate in 1993, did not appear).

St. Francis College hosted on its Web site live streaming of the event.  Video of both panel discussions are now available for viewing at http://snipurl.com/chamberforum.
