What does your business do? How did you become active in the Brooklyn Chamber?
Washington Mutual, Inc. is a financial services company that serves consumers and small to mid-sized businesses. Started in 1889 as a local bank, the company has expanded to one of the top 10 largest banks in the U.S. We have 25 Financial Centers throughout Brooklyn with additional locations planned in the coming year. We offer free Business Banking Deposit accounts for small to mid-sized businesses, as well as a wide variety of lending options to help our clients' businesses grow. Through our business resource guide and online seminars from StartUp Nation®,we offer fresh ideas to business owners who are looking for business savings and success.
Washington Mutual is a long-time supporter and leading Member of the Chamber. I became involved with the Chamber in 2004 after reading about its many services and events in Brooklyn's Progress.

How has the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce assisted you in your business?
Taking advantage of Washington Mutual's corporate Chamber membership has allowed me to educate Members about our bank's numerous products and services. We have been able to promote our partnership with Startup Nation® through materials distribution at events, articles in the Progress and postings on the Chamber's online community calendar. This marketing within the Chamber has lead to invitations for seminar opportunities from other Chamber Member businesses such as Workshop In Business Opportunities (WIBO), expanding my ability to help businesses obtain the information they need to succeed. I've also become involved in committee activities, which has helped me to establish relationships with Chamber Members as well as make the after hours events even more productive for me.
