|  | Peter M. Meyer, chairman of the Board of Directors of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce and president of NYC Markets, Commerce Bank.
As president of the New York City market, Peter is responsible for commercial, retail branch operations and consumer lending for Commerce Bank. Peter joined Commerce in 2002 to execute the bank’s aggressive expansion into the Brooklyn/Queens market. In his current role, Peter overseas over 60 branches as well as numerous lending groups throughout the five New York boroughs.
Peter began his banking career as a teller while attending college, working his way to branch manager and later served as a commercial lender. Peter has held senior positions with various banks in New York City and has been instrumental in shaping loan programs and products for healthcare and nonprofit organizations, thereby providing greater access to capital for organizations delivering essential services to New Yorkers in need.
A graduate of St. Francis Prep and St. Joseph’s College, Peter earned an MBA from Long Island University. Peter grew up in Woodhaven, Queens, and now resides in Brooklyn Heights. Active in the community, Peter has served on the boards of numerous nonprofit and civic organizations over the years, and is currently chair of the finance committee of the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership, vice president of Queens Museum, board member of York College, director of Greater Jamaica Development Corp., board member of St. Joseph College, the Flushing Willets Point Corona LDC and The American Cancer Society.
