Brooklyn Go Digital Powered by Google

Helping Small Businesses Get Online for Free

The internet has become an important business tool for business owners and consumers.  Having an online presence is now essential to developing a business.  However, many immigrant and small business owners in Brooklyn are still behind on some of the most basic and free digital platforms.  The GoDigital! project is an initiative that addresses the gap between the less tech-savvy business owner and the modern consumer.  Its mission is to improve businesses long-term and better Brooklyn's small business economy as a whole.

The GoDigital! team conducts outreach to eligible storefront businesses and provides on-site education of social media.  Team members assist owners and employees to understand the most essential and basic platforms.  These include:

  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Google +
  • Pinterest
  • Explore Brooklyn

The on-site service allows instructors to better familiarize store owners with the digital platforms and provide ideas and suggestions on how to best take advantage of social media for their business.  For example, by regularly posting content on Facebook as part of one's daily routine, a business owner can successfully connect with their customers more.  A curriculum was developed with step-by-step instructions for how to create each social media platform, access data, and track the relevant business numbers.  All of this can be done at home on a computer!
