Project Manager, Economic Development

The Project Manager, Economic Development reports to the Vice President of Economic Development and is charged with the Brooklyn Chamber’s programming as it relates to Economic Development goals and initiatives. The Project Manager will support the overall growth of the Brooklyn Chamber’s Economic Development department, helping form policy and initiatives around economic development.  The position will provide support for the Brooklyn Chamber’s Industrial and Manufacturing initiatives, including the I&M Coalition, and the Brooklyn-Made Certification Program.  The positon will also play a critical role in the Brooklyn Chamber’s Workforce Development projects, specifically those targeting manufacturing firms, and will assist with the Brooklyn Chamber’s Export Assistance and Procurement Assistance Programs.  The position is also responsible for special projects as directed by the President and CEO. 

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Support the creation of a Strategic Economic Development Plan for Brooklyn, engaging borough stakeholders in developing a vision to drive job creation across Brooklyn’s diverse neighborhoods
  • Support the Industrial & Manufacturing Program, including technical support for businesses, Brooklyn-Made, the I&M Bulletin
  • Support Events and Trade Shows including the Winter and Summer Fancy Food Shows, Brooklyn Eats, Brooklyn Designs and other special events as needed  
  • Coordinate Brooklyn Goes Global Exporting Assistance Program
  • Produce Brooklyn Connects Procurement Assistance Program
  • Assist in Neighborhood Development work
  • Assist with public and private grant proposals and other Economic Development initiatives
  • All Brooklyn Chamber staff assists with enrollment and retention of Brooklyn Chamber Members

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, Business or related field
  • Knowledge of NYC business landscape, especially the industrial and manufacturing sector
  • Previous experience providing technical assistance to businesses
  • Strong written and verbal skills, with relevant computer skills
  • Organized, with an ability to prioritize time-sensitive assignment
  • Comfortable performing outreach to diverse neighborhoods in Brooklyn
  • Ability to think creatively and “outside the box”
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team to achieve a common mission
  • Multilingual preferred but not required
